You Don’t Want A Balanced Lifestyle, Neither do I

Imagine you are a juggler, all the balls are in the air, everything is in balance. You are super focused on all the balls.  Drop one and you have failed.

Do you want to juggle your whole life? Balance is not what you want, stability is.

A pyramid is inherently stable, no need to focus on it to keep it upright, no need for bracing either. It will take a lot of concerted effort to knock it down.

Build your life like a pyramid and you will weather most storms.

However, we need to add mobility to our stable lifestyle.

If we do too good a job at building our pyramid, we risk not going anywhere, no more challenges, no more opportunities. Just too boring for most entrepreneurs.

The “three point climbing system” offers you those opportunities.
This system is simple—always maintain one hand and two feet, or two hands and one foot, when climbing or descending ladders.

When you are climbing the ladder, you are not focusing real hard on the ladder. No juggling here. You have time to look around and evaluate what you are going to do on that ladder or where you are going. The three points will hold you steady.

The fourth support is the key element for entrepreneurs: now you have a hand available to grab opportunities and you will not fall off the ladder of success.

Question: What are some areas in life that are your important pillars? Which pillars are you having difficulty with?

Evaluate your work-life balance on a regular basis

Achieving work-life balance is a never-ending journey, and your needs will be different at different times in your life.

Set aside some time once every other month or so to reflect on your current balance, what you would like it to be, and what the plan is for arriving there

Ask for Support

Tell your family, friends, & colleagues, and anyone else involved in your life that you are seeking a better work-life balance.

Tell them what your plan is, and ask them to respect it.

Setting Priorities

Figure out what you want your priorities to be, not what you think they should be. Ask yourself, “If I could only focus on one thing in my life, what would it be?”

That answer is your top priority. What would you focus on second? Third? Fourth? Fifth? You’ve now identified your top five priorities.
